ORLANDO -- Universal Studios Florida's 44-night Mardi Gras
celebration, set for Feb. 18 to April 1, is featured in a Universal
Studios Vacations package.
The annual event resembles Mardi Gras in New Orleans, featuring
thousands of festoons, street performers, stilt walkers, food,
drink and music.
A parade with 15 elaborately decorated floats carrying costumed
riders who toss out doubloons and strands of beads is a highlight
of the event.
Mardi Gras entertainers will include Michael McDonald; Cheap
Trick; Pat Benatar; Blood, Sweat and Tears; Smash Mouth; Foreigner;
Kansas, and KC and the Sunshine Band.
The Mardi Gras celebration begins at 6 p.m. each day.
The two-night Life of Mardi package is priced from $249 per
adult, double.
The cost covers hotel accommodations; a two-day Escape Pass to
Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure, and
a CityWalk Party Pass.
Also included are a ride on a float, one Cajun and Creole
dinner, and a choice of lunch or a second dinner at a Universal
restaurant or admission to Wet 'n Wild Orlando.
In addition, one day of valet parking is included along with
early park admission on selected days; a Nickelodeon Kids Travel
Tote for each child ages 3 to 9 and a souvenir cup for each
traveler ages 10 to 17.
Agents earn 10% on the package, which can be extended beyond two
nights. Options include car rental, air fare or airport
transfers.
Clients who don't purchase the package will find that the Mardi
Gras event is included with regular park admission.
