Since 1991, Atlantis Submarines has been providing tours out of Maui's Lahaina Harbor until the August 2023 wildfire.

The company "lost nearly everything," including the submarine, tugboat, offices, a maintenance shop and equipment. The shuttle boat and dive site also were badly damaged.

But now it's opening and restarting tours again, after towing one of its 48-passenger submarines from Oahu to Lahaina.

"We never had any thought of giving up and have always felt that being able to restart the submarine tours at Lahaina Harbor would be viewed as another sign of hope that life is coming back to this iconic community," said Ronald Williams, CEO of Atlantis Submarines Hawaii, in a news release.

On the tour, guests will see vibrant sea life, coral reefs and a 97-foot sunken ship, which Atlantis cleaned, towed and sunk to act as an artificial reef.

"Lahaina Harbor is a vital economic zone for all of Maui, but especially in West Maui where support for jobs and small businesses are needed for families to stay and thrive on the island," Williams said. "The harbor gives life back to the land and will help allow Lahaina and West Maui to continue growing and gaining strength in the years to come."

The tours cost $148 per adult and $66 per child. They are operating at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays; it's closed on Tuesdays and Fridays.
