The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Kaupulehu opened its Ulu Ocean Grill & Sushi Lounge Nov. 14.
The oceanfront seafood restaurant features the “oven-roasted, flame-grilled, and wok-fried” cuisine of acclaimed executive chef James Babian, offering diners a menu made up of 75% Big Island of Hawaii produce and products sourced from 160 local fishermen and farmers.
“Ulu pays tribute to the beauty, bounty and spirit of Hawaii Island,” said Robert Whitfield, the property’s general manager, in a statement. “This new and stylish dining experience offers a number of ways to enjoy a meal — be it ‘loungy’ and social, or quiet and romantic — all following our commitment to keeping it regional, seasonal, artisanal.”
A blend of Hawaiian architecture and modern flair, the restaurant seats 195 in the dining room and 35 in the sushi lounge and bar; it is open daily for buffet breakfast and upscale dinner service.
The 243-room Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is located seven miles north of the Kona Airport.
