Bethesda, Md.-based Host Hotels and Resorts is planning to construct a 131-unit timeshare facility on the site of an oceanfront parking lot at its Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, according to a report in Pacific Business News.
The Kaanapali project would include a pool with poolside bar; a 6,500-square-foot, open-air lobby; a 3,000-square-foot fitness center; and casual-dining restaurants, the report said.
Host Hotels is currently negotiating the joint venture, which would include developing, selling and operating the vacation-ownership units with Hyatt Hotels, according to the story.
A real estate investment trust, Host Hotels also owns the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea, on Maui.
