The Kahala Hotel and Resort has named Jonathan Mizukami as the new executive chef for the property.

In his new role Mizukami will oversee all culinary operations including catering, Plumeria Beach House, Seaside Grill, The Veranda, and signature restaurant Hoku's.

"Jonathan brings a new level of culinary expertise to the Kahala with more than a decade developing his talents in Michelin-starred restaurants, learning from the most respected chefs of our generation," general manager Joe Ibarra said in a statement. "His passion for innovation and showcasing Hawaii's finest local ingredients will allow us to elevate our culinary offerings and give our guests one of the finest dining experiences on the island."

Mizukami, a Maui native, brings more than two decades of experience to the role, including 10 years as a sous chef at the French Laundry, the acclaimed Napa Valley restaurant helmed by Thomas Keller. Most recently in Hawaii, he served as the executive chef of Vintage Cave and chef de cuisine at Chef Mavro's in Honolulu.
