The Oahu Visitors Bureau recently announced two new members of the agency's management team.
Joyce Bernardo has been promoted into the position of director of marketing, and Mathew "Manako" Kenichi Tanaka has been named sales manager.
Bernardo joined OVB in 2005 as an administrative coordinator, and in 2011 was promoted to marketing manager. In her new role, Bernardo will develop and oversee OVB's strategic marketing plan covering domestic and key international markets.
"Throughout Joyce's career at OVB, she has always been a crucial part of the OVB ohana and important to the development and implementation of our programs," Noelani Schilling-Wheeler, executive director of OVB, said in a statement.
Tanaka most recently worked in the catering and convention services department at Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, and in his new role at OVB will oversee sales activities in both leisure and meetings, conventions and incentives markets, as well as implementation of travel trade sales tactics, and crisis preparedness and management efforts.
"We are excited that Manako has joined our ohana OVB," Schilling-Wheeler said. "In addition to his sales qualifications, his passion for sharing Hawaiian culture and extensive education in olelo Hawaii bring much value to OVB, our travel industry partners and our clients, which only helps to enrich the visitor experience."
