Location and History
Originally part of a hospital, this building was repurposed to operate as a boutique-hotel. It won a Boston Preservation Alliance Award for the way in which it protected the original townhouse-style building with a newer addition.
The brick-facade property takes its name from former owner Henry Melville Whitney, who founded the West End Street Railway Company. That later became the local transit authority, the MBTA
