Location and History
At the corner of Penang Road, close to the center of George Town, this heritage property is one of Asia's few hotels that retain the spirit of the British colonial era and the days of grand Asian travel on steamships that once plied the oceans.
Opened by the Sarkies brothers of Raffles Singapore fame, the E&O fell onto hard times following World War II. New owners took over in 1996 and revitalized it with all modern conveniences while retaining most of its heritage detailing.
