Description
Modern Motor Lodge in wooded setting at 7000 ft asl, between Yavapai Point & Grand Canyon Village; 3/4 mile from Canyon edge.
Location and History
About a mile's drive from the rim and the revered El Tovar (half that on foot), amid the juniper and pinyon woodlands surrounding the visitors center, bank, general store and a post office, this is the largest, least romantic and most utilitarian of the hotels here, but solid maintenance keeps things in better shape than the majority of the motels in Tusayan.
Yavapai Lodge is actually divided into two camps: Yavapai East comprises a half-dozen pine-green two-story buildings with the best rooms and a no-pet policy; Yavapai East holds constitutes 10 single-story motel units that woo pet owners.
