Location and History
At the edge of the village of Lake Placid, a forest-lined road twists and turns to Lake Placid Lodge, the only hotel directly on the shores of Lake Placid.
The property is in the heart of the Adirondack Park, and most of the surrounding land has been designated Forever Wild. The original structure was built in 1882 and was one of the Great Camps of the Adirondacks, a theme that continues to this day, though it's a contemporary version. (The main building burned to the ground in 2005 and was rebuilt in 2008, though the cabins and the Lakeside building date from the 1940s.
