Location and History
Close to the Tagus River and about 20 minutes from the center of town, this hotel is housed in a 1904 mansion that has been carefully restored.
Pestana Hotels' flagship is built around the 19th-century Palacio Valle-Flor and two stark accommodations wings that take up most of the once-spacious palace grounds. Large-scale sculptures dot the lovely landscaped grounds, pointed out to guests as they are given the grand tour upon checking in. Much of the decor was influenced by the French palace that Valle-Flor also had, which he wanted to replicate here.
