Near an archaeological site in a pretty village well inland, away from the caldera and its views, this property aspires to be a world-class hotel, and in many ways it succeeds. Despite being in Megalohori ("big village" in Greek), this hotel is a little village unto itself. Its self-possession and formality can be a turnoff for some, but this former winery has made quite a name for itself with international visitors.
