Location and History
This historic hotel was the first commercial hotel in Old Town, constructed as a hotel in 1874. In 1882, the fourth-floor iron staircase was fabricated in Belfast, Ireland 20 years before the same shipyard fabricated the Titanic ship. The famous property was originally constructed to support executive and engineering staff for the Panama Canal.
It is located right on Independence Square and across the street from the Panama Canal Museum and the Panama Historical Society Museum.
