Lovely Pousada da Condessa is situated just across the river from Paraty's charming historic district. The property is set at the base of a low, verdant mountain, wedged between the river and a densely-forested hill.
The hotel was established in the 1970s by an Argentinian family. They started with a handful of rooms set around an open courtyard. Over the years they greatly expanded the property along the base of the mountain and gradually added more guest rooms.
