The Warehouse Hotel is located in a building that was erected along the Singapore River in 1895. The area was then a lively port with steamers operating in regional waters especially through the Straits of Malacca and ports along Malaysia's West Coast. The riverfront was a rough and tumble area controlled by secret societies, which oversaw many illegal activities.
While the riverfront has been cleaned up and gentrified with bars, restaurants and skyscrapers, properties such as the Warehouse Hotel provide a window to the past.
