On June 21, 2020, senior editor Robert Silk sat, disconnected, from sunup to sundown in the Mojave Desert of Joshua Tree National Park. The exercise was a spiritual one, but Silk also likes to say that desert sitting is the model of a socially distant outdoor endurance activity during the age of Covid-19.
