Now that the recovery of Los Cabos’ from the hurricane last fall is well underway, the destination, along with its rebuilt and reopened properties, is focusing on culinary travel to satisfy travelers’ appetites.

Los Cabos is home to two certified organic farms: Flora Farm and Huerta Los Tamarindos.

At the 10-acre Flora Farm in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, guests can take a guided tour before dining at Flora’s Field Kitchen and sipping a farmarita — a farm version of the traditional margarita, made with organic carrot juice, lime juice, orange juice, Cointreau, tequila and red-pepper flakes — along with the meal.

At Huerta Los Tamarindos, visitors dine in its restored sugarcane factory-turned-restaurant that also doubles as a cooking classroom.

Following the farm-to-table trend, One&Only Palmilla, which reopened April 20, offers a Farm-Life Cuisine package, which incorporates a tour of  the resort’s herb garden and outdoor kitchen (with wood-fired stove) with a cooking class with owner Enrique Silva.

Solmar Hotels & Resorts, meanwhile, offers a Hook & Cook program, which takes advantage of the marine life in the waters surrounding Los Cabos. Guests fish by day and eat the catch that night. Meal prices start at $12 per person.

At Hacienda Encantada’s Los Riscos restaurant, guests can reserve La Mesa del Patron, a special table where a specially selected wine-pairing menu, not available elsewhere at the resort, is offered. Pricing for the meal begins at $103 per person.

Casianos restaurant in San Jose del Cabo features spontaneous dining where guests state their dietary restrictions and the chef takes it from there, preparing a surprise meal with foods from the region.

The Resort at Pedregal introduced a Cliffside Champagne Terrace when it reopened at the end of January: While sipping the bubbly, guests sample a specially paired mineral-salt and cheese combination.

The resort from July 15 to 19 will host its Art of Taste event, a food and wine festival, where guests can meet with chefs, local farmers and mixologists and wine and dine on the food of the region.

Los Cabos’ annual Sabor a Cabo (Flavors of Cabo) culinary event, meanwhile, takes place in December.
