Travel Weekly was at the official groundbreaking for the Montage Punta Mita and Pendry Punta Mita, a joint development by Montage International, Dine and LCA Capital. The dual-property project, located within the 1,500-acre Punta Mita community, is expected to be completed in 2027.
The Montage Punta Mita will include 145 guestrooms and 62 branded residences, designed by Bernardi + Peschard Arquitectura, Idea Asociados and Girvin Associates. The resort will feature Spa Montage, a fitness center, multiple dining venues, resort and family pools, a Compass Sports center and Paintbox, the brand's children's program.

Sales for the Montage Residences Punta Mita have begun, with prices starting at $5 million. The residences, ranging from three to five bedrooms and up to 5,800 square feet, will offer access to Montage Punta Mita's services and amenities as well as Punta Mita's broader residential offerings. Punta Mita Properties is overseeing sales and marketing for the residences.
The Pendry Punta Mita will include 125 guestrooms and 32 branded residences. The property will feature Spa Pendry, a rooftop bar, multiple dining options, a resort pool, a game room and outdoor recreation programs. Sales for Pendry Residences Punta Mita are scheduled to launch in 2025, with homes overlooking La Lancha surf break.
The Punta Mita development is already home to the St. Regis Punta Mita and the Four Seasons/Naviva. The Montage and Pendry will be the last two resorts to be built within the community. No further resort developments are planned, maintaining a relatively small scale and preserving the area's exclusive atmosphere.
Alan Fuerstman, founder, chairman and CEO of Montage International, noted the significance of the project. "Punta Mita is a spectacular destination. This is where our customers love to come already, and it's a perfect fit with the quality of the natural beauty and hospitality. Everything that's here is so on-brand for us. It was an easy decision to make," he told Travel Weekly.
Fuerstman also highlighted the resort's planned amenities. "We will feature a spa, fitness area and farm-to-table restaurant to serve the whole community as a destination restaurant. It will also be an ideal wedding venue and offer great meeting spaces.
"We can't wait to open the doors in 2027. It will be an incredible version of what we've done at our other resorts. This is a particularly special destination. The natural beauty, coupled with the development, will result in something truly special."
Fuerstman also noted Montage's broader expansion efforts in Mexico. "We're under construction in Mexico City with a Pendry in Roma. Roma is underserved with hotels right now. It's a great walking community with a great food and beverage scene. We're looking at other destinations in Mexico, too."
