The Six Flags Entertainment Corp. (www.sixflags.com) plans to open a water park, Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec, in early 2017, its second park in Mexico.

The already existing 67-acre park in Oaxtepec, in the state of Morelos (about two hours south of Mexico City), has been closed to the public for years. But in taking over, Six Flags plans a multimillion-dollar investment that will include the addition of water slides, rides and attractions along with several new culinary and retail outlets.

Six Flags also has a theme park in Mexico City, Six Flags Mexico, that is currently its only theme park in Latin America.
