The Alaska Railroad is adding another train to its popular lineup of special event trains. This train, dubbed the Rockin’ the Rails train, is geared toward music lovers. The train will depart Anchorage on April 30.
While onboard, passengers will enjoy music by the Sammy Burrous Band as they travel north to the town of Talkeetna. Once there, passengers will stay overnight at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge where Denali is on full display, weather permitting. The spring addition of the special events train is paired with the railroad’s very popular Blues Train in the fall.
Alaska Railroad’s Bruce LaLonde says the two trains make for “a very unique concert venue” and the railroad is excited to add the springtime option. Both trains are presented in partnership with Frank Dahl’s Blues Central Productions.
