Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach — a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is investing $7 million in a refresh, slated for completion in time to host the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show on Nov. 1 to 5.
Bahia Mar's new nautical design aesthetic is inspired by its location between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, a walkable and lively beachfront neighborhood. With diverse views of the marina, city and beach, the design team, ID & Design International, wanted guests to feel like they're on an island when staying at Bahia Mar. All 181 rooms in the main tower will be completely refreshed with a white-and-blue color scheme including custom carpet, floor-to-ceiling headboards, new fixtures and drapery. King beds are also being added to the ocean-facing rooms.
"For this redesign, we were mindful of the property's unique history and its allure as a top yachting destination," said designer Sherif Ayad of ID & Design.
Bahia Mar's interior redesign extends to the atrium, corridors, meetings space and ballroom as well as the landscaping. Even the food and beverage program will be overhauled.
"Fort Lauderdale is a transforming global destination, and we're thrilled Bahia Mar is at the center of its renaissance," said James Tate, CEO of Tate Capital, the co-owner of the property.
The remaining 115 rooms in a separate building were refreshed in 2015.
