Dom Toretto, Hobbs, Letty and Roman are coming to Universal Studios Florida.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged, a ride featuring specially designed vehicles and immersive 3-D elements, will open in 2017, Universal Orlando Resort announced Tuesday.
"Guests will experience a high-octane journey that fuses an original storyline and incredible ride technology with everything that fans love about the films -- popular characters, exhilarating environments, nonstop action and, of course, high-speed cars," Universal said of the attraction.
The ride will be guided by "Fast & Furious" stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson. The attraction will begin with a visit to the headquarters of Toretto and his team, where guests will get a look at some of the cars they've seen in the seven "Fast & Furious" movies. After that, they'll board vehicles for the 3-D trip through the underground street racing scene depicted by the movie franchise.
This week's announcement comes two months after the opening of "Fast & Furious -- Supercharged" at Universal Studios Hollywood. That attraction, however, is the new finale of the park's half-century-old Studio Tour, while the Universal Studios Florida ride will be a stand-alone attraction.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged will replace Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue and Disaster: A Major Motion Picture Starring You! at Universal Studios Florida. Disaster will close on Sept. 8 and Beetlejuice will close later this year.
The Fast & Furious ride is one of many upgrades in store for Universal Orlando. Also slated for a 2017 opening is the new waterpark, Volcano Bay. Next year, meanwhile, Universal Orlando will open the 1,000-room Loews Sapphire Falls Resort and the new Islands of Adventure ride Skull Island: Reign of Kong.
