Last year, MGM Resorts held its first ever Recipe Showdown, challenging meetings planners in 12 cities to dig up their go-to dishes for the chance to compete in front of a panel of celebrity-chef judges in Las Vegas. The winning dish from Vancouver: Melissa’s Marvelous Moussaka.
Now, for the second year of competition, MGM is expanding the contest to 16 cities across the U.S. and Canada, inviting meetings planners and travel professionals to show off their best recipes for the chance to compete in the Las Vegas finals and win prizes.
Any type of recipe is eligible — from eggs Benedict to lamb vindaloo — and the preliminary round of competition, which kicks off June 2 in Washington, D.C., will be judged by meeting and travel industry colleagues. The winner of each city contest will be flown to Las Vegas to cook in the finals on Oct. 29, with chef judges taken straight from the kitchens of MGM Resorts restaurants.
The victor will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2016 South Beach Wine & Food Festival, while second- and third-place winners receive stays in Las Vegas at MGM properties.
