The Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority has unveiled a Miami Beach Information app, developed in conjunction with Orlando-based tech company Solodev.

The free app provides access to the area's countless offerings, including city services (like where you'll find the nearest emergency room), cultural attractions, entertainment, restaurants, events and more. The app drills down to the most granular information, such as a hotel's architect, with extensive detail available by category, and allows users to save favorites.

The app can be downloaded at the iTunes store for iOS 8.0 or later and is compatible with iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. An Android version of the app is not currently available.

The release of the app comes on the heels of the Miami Beach VCA being named the world's leading tourist board by the World Travel Awards earlier this month.

"The board has worked really hard to leverage Miami Beach's beauty and unique offerings," said Peggy Benua, authority chair.
