The Gold Spike is updating its restaurant offerings with newcomer Fiddlestix, a modern cafe set to open in August.
The restaurant, which is replacing the Grill, will feature a variety of traditional breakfast items, a wide selection of salads, burgers and sandwiches and alcoholic milkshakes such as "The Dude" (vodka, Kahlua and vanilla ice cream).
"Gold Spike has become a staple of downtown's awesome nightlife scene, and now we're ready to raise the profile of the property's restaurant offering with a fresh, playful new concept," Gold Spike executive chef Geoffrey Graham said in a press release announcing the opening.
Fiddlestix will offer breakfast 24 hours a day, including lighter options such as granola and muesli and specialty items like the cornflake-crusted French toast with Jack Daniels maple bourbon syrup. The cafe will also offer build-your-own yogurt parfaits and acai bowls from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekends.
Keeping with Gold Spike's motif as a casual gathering place, the restaurant includes a 20-seat floating fuchsia quartz community table at the center with interactive built-in iPads and internet access.
