Universal Orlando Resort will unveil it newest attraction, Transformers: The Ride — 3D, at Universal Studios Florida in summer 2013, the company announced Friday.
The ride will have one of the shortest build times in Universal history, making it one of Universal's most ambitious projects ever, according to the company. The Transformers ride is already available at Universal Studios Singapore and Universal Studios Hollywood.
It will involve a face-to-face encounter with the Megatron-led Decepticons, dodging explosions and attacks launched by the group, and fighting counter-attacks alongside Optimus Prime and the Autobots, according to Universal.
Universal worked closely with "Transformers" director Michael Bay to create the attraction, which combines HD CGI media, 3-D technology and other special effects.
The three Transformers films that have been released to date — "Transformers" (2007), "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" (2009) and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" (2011) — have grossed more than $2 billion worldwide. The three films were directed by Bay, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and released by Paramount Pictures.
