Rio Las Vegas opened the VooDoo Zip Line, a thrill ride running between the two towers of the resort, over Memorial Day weekend.
The attraction is located on the 50th floor of the Masquerade Tower and runs to the 20-story Ipanema Tower. The Masquerade Tower has no floor numbers in the 40s (for superstitious reasons), so the launching point on the patio of the 50th floor of the VooDoo Steakhouse isn’t as high as it sounds, but riders will still be suspended about 490 feet above Las Vegas with 360-degree views.
The VooDoo Zip Line propels riders at speeds up to 33 miles per hour in two-person seats from one tower to another. Guests then make a return trip back to the starting point traveling backward at 20 miles per hour. The entire ride takes one minute and 10 seconds and travels one-third of a mile.
The attraction is open noon to midnight Monday through Thursday and 10:00 a.m. to midnight Friday through Sunday. Admission is $24.99 through 5:30 p.m. and $37 until midnight.
