As fallout from the coronavirus pandemic continues, travel advisors are on the front lines of the travel industry, canceling and rebooking clients or counseling them in a wait-and-see mode. On March 18, before President Trump stopped inbound travel from Europe to the U.S., senior editor for retail travel Jamie Biesiada talks about some of the markets that had been hit the hardest, where some Americans were still traveling and why travel advisor Jay Ellenby's congressional testimony is setting the stage for possible small-business aid.
And in the second of a two-part series, Rob Fixmer and Rebecca Tobin talk with editor in chief Arnie Weissmann about his climb of Mount Kilimanajro. Weissmann details some of the specifics of the climb facing the Barranco Wall, the amount of gear needed, the emotional stamina needed for the climb -- and talks about some of the beneficiaries of the funds raised on behalf of the travel industry. Listeners can still donate to Tourism Cares, and their names will be listed on our donor page.
Weissmann's Dispatches about his climb can be found here, and his full cover story on the climb, with maps and pictures, is here.
