Fairmont Kea Lani

Located on the white sands of Wailea's Polo Beach, the Fairmont Kea Lani in early 2015 completed a $70 million renovation of all of its 413 one-bedroom suites and 37 villas. The 9,000-square-foot Willow Stream Spa features local ingredients and traditions, including experience showers inspired by types of Maui rain, a hot lava rock foot bed and a volcanic mud bar. The property also includes an adults-only pool and two activity pools connected by a 140-foot waterslide.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai

The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is the only property run by the Canadian luxury hotelier on the Big Island. The resort, which is located on the Kona-Kohala coast, includes 243 rooms clustered in two-story bungalows as well as an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course.

One & Only Pamilla

Located on the tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula in San Jose del Cabo on the Sea of Cortes, One&Only Palmilla is nestled within an oasis of private gardens adjacent to one of the only swimmable beaches in Los Cabos. The 173-room, all-balcony resort features fine dining at Agua by Larbi and Market by Jean-Georges. The resort, which sits on 250 acres, offers the One&Only Spa, the Jack Nicklaus-designed 27-hole Palmilla Golf Club, watersports and surfing activities, kids programs and yachting excursions aboard the resort's brand new Catari yacht.

Resort at Pelican Hill

Drawing its design inspiration from 16th century Italian architecture, Southern California's Resort at Pelican Hill sits on 504 acres and boasts 204 villas, including bungalows ranging from 847 to 1,634 square feet and 128 larger villas ranging up to almost 3,600 square feet. The resort also includes a Tom Fazio-designed golf course.

Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay

This 261-room property features two golf courses, including the only coastal golf course in the San Francisco Bay Area. The property also has a 16,000-square-foot spa, six lighted tennis courts and three communal gas firepits with views of the Pacific. Its four dining venues emphasize locally sourced ingredients. In a commitment to ecofriendliness, all guestrooms use low-energy LED bulbs.

St. Regis Bora Bora

This luxury resort features the largest overwater and beach bungalow villas in the South Pacific, each with a terrace and gazebo and some boasting Jacuzzis and/or private pools. The 44-acre private-island resort offers the Miri Miri Spa by Clarins on a private island, a signature restaurant by Jean-Georges Vongerichten and the Italian-influenced Far Niente.
