AmaWaterways will welcome Mekong and Europe ships in 2026

AmaWaterways said it will welcome two new river ships in 2026: the AmaKaia in Vietnam/Cambodia and the AmaSofia in Europe. 

With an expected launch date of May 24, 2026, AmaSofia will be AmaWatwerways' 24th ship in Europe. It will sail the Rhine and Danube rivers. The AmaSofia's inaugural 14-night itinerary will sail between between Amsterdam and Budapest. 

The AmaSofia will have 31 departures in 2026, including multiple Danube itineraries, such as a Christmas markets cruise. 

The AmaKaia is expected to embark on its first itinerary on Aug. 3, 2026. AmaKaia will join the AmaDara on the Mekong River. 

AmaKaia will sail 22 cruises in 2026 and up to 38 in 2027. Land extensions are available in several cities, including Siem Reap, home of temple complex Angkor Wat.
