The Amadeus Nova debuted last week, with Amadeus River Cruises saying the river ship sets a new environmental standard.
The Nova has a diesel-electric propulsion system, significantly reduces CO2 emissions, Amadeus said. The company added that "innovative filters and catalytic converters reduce air pollutants almost completely." Solar panels provide electricity, and a recovery system makes heat reusable onboard.
The 148-foot ship can accommodate 158 guests on four decks. It has 12 suites with balconies and 67 outside cabins with retractable panoramic windows. Other features: wind-protected lounges; a gallery with a café, spa and fitness areas; and a pool on the sun deck.
The Amadeus Nova will sail on the Rhine and Danube rivers during its inaugural season.
