Amadeus River Cruises has ordered a ship for delivery in
2021.
The Amadeus Cara will become the 17th in the company’s fleet.
Amadeus said the ship is designed to offer more personal
space and amenities, including an extended outdoor deck off the club lounge in
the rear, a glassed-in River Terrace at the front, massage and hair salon, and
modern fitness room.
It will have 70 cabins at 188 square feet and 12 at 284 square
feet.
Amadeus executive vice president Marcus Leskovar said the
Amadeus Cara “will not only serve as much-needed increased capacity for the
great demand of our high-quality river cruises, but is also a promise to our
passengers that we will continue to offer one of the most modern fleets in the
five-star segment.”
The company said the name, derived from the Latin for
valuable or precious, was chosen to represent Amadeus’ commitment to luxury
river cruising.
The Amadeus Cara will sail its maiden voyage on the Danube
to and from Passau at the end of April 2021. Then it will travel the lower
Danube to the Black Sea and between Amsterdam and Basel on the Rhine.
In April, the company will christen its 16th ship, the
Amadeus Imperial. Last year, it welcomed the Amadeus Star.
