An Avalon Adventure Host will be on-hand on all of Avalon Waterway's 2019 Europe sailings to assist guests looking for more adventurous and active options during their river cruise.
According to the company, the hosts, who will be located in a new Adventure Center onboard, will help travelers arrange activities such as checking out a bike, grabbing a Nordic walking stick for a hike, booking a kayaking excursion or signing up for a complimentary fitness class.
"For those looking for heart-pumping discoveries ... we are now providing our guests with an Avalon Adventure Host who will be on-hand with gear, maps and more for active pursuits on and off the ship," stated Pam Hoffee, managing director of Avalon Waterways.
The host program will be a complement to three new types of excursions Avalon is making available for 2019 through its Avalon Choice program (previously, there was one type of excursion with different paces offered).
The new excursion categories are Classic, Discovery and Active options, with the Classic category, featuring a more traditional guided tour; the Discovery option comprised of interactive activities, such as cooking classes and painting workshops; and the Active option, featuring guided jogging tours, biking, paddling or hiking excursions.
