Celebrity River Cruises' inaugural ship, Celebrity Compass, touched water for the first time, completing its float-out in the Netherlands on Sept. 12. The ship will debut next August.
The ship floated out at the Zwijnenburg shipyard in Rotterdam, then sailed 50 miles to TeamCo Shipyard in Heusden.
"The float-out of Celebrity Compass is a defining milestone as we bring our vision for Celebrity River Cruises to life," stated Celebrity Cruises president Laura Hodges Bethge. "As our inaugural ship enters the next phase of construction, we're one step closer to welcoming guests aboard in 2027 and showing them a new way to discover the world's iconic waterways."
The Compass will sail the Rhine and Danube rivers.
