River cruise brand Emerald Waterways and its ocean cruise sister line, Emerald Yacht Cruises, will operate under a single global brand, Emerald Cruises.
Emerald Cruises will feature both its river and ocean cruises on one website www.emeraldcruises.com.
"We believe moving to a single brand will support our long-term growth ambitions as a leading small-ship cruise company," said David Winterton, global director of brand and marketing for Emerald Cruises.
Emerald's river line launched in 2013 as a subsidiary of Australia-based Scenic Group. In early 2020, it said it would launch an ocean cruising line to its portfolio, with the 100-guest superyacht the Emerald Azzurra.
Set to launch in January 2022, the ship is under construction at the Halong Shipbuilding Co. in Vietnam and will operate in the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Red and Aegean seas. In 2023, it will add Black Sea sailings.
The Emerald river brand currently sails eight Star-Ships and has a ninth, the Emerald Luna, set to launch later this year.
Scenic's flagship river line, Scenic River Cruises, also added an ocean-going fleet to its portfolio, with an order for five expedition ships. The 228-passenger Scenic Eclipse launched in 2019 as the first expedition vessel to have its own fleet of two helicopters as well as a submarine. Its sister ship, the Scenic Eclipse, is under construction in Croatia.
