American Cruise Lines' American Jazz, its third in a series of five modern-style riverboats, was launched into water for the first time this month, five weeks ahead of schedule.

Under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Md., the six-deck Jazz will accommodate 194 guests in 100 cabins when it begins cruising the Mississippi River in August, 2020.

The ship will showcase a multi-story glass atrium at its center and have the line's unique opening bow with a retractable gangway.

Amenities will also include a casual dining venue called, the Back Porch Cafe; a Grand Dining Room, accommodating all guests; numerous lounges; several open-air and shaded sundecks; a putting green; exercise room; laundry facilities; and elevator access to all decks.

The line said the American Melody, the fourth in the series and also under construction, will feature a number of design changes from the first three.
