Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection has contracted with a Danish company to have an antimicrobial surface coating applied across its fleet that kills the Covid-19 virus on contact.

The company said all of its ships will be sprayed with ACT CleanCoat, which it said not only kills bacteria and viruses on surfaces, but also purifies the air.

"This is another example of the way we are demonstrating tremendous care for our guests and our crew," said Uniworld CEO Ellen Bettridge. "Their well-being is our everything; nothing takes a higher priority."

Applied once a year, the nontoxic coating renders surfaces self-disinfecting, while also purifying the air from microbes such as bacteria, viruses, airborne mold spores and other common air pollutants, the companies said.
