Air China has halted plans to
begin nonstop service from San Jose to Shanghai this month.
The route, which was to launch on
June 16, was to be offered three times per week and would have been the first
from San Jose to Shanghai.
Air China briefly opened
reservations for the flight in March, according to the website Routes Online,
but stopped selling it after less than a week. The carrier removed the flight
from its schedule last week. No alternative launch date for the site has
been scheduled.
“Air China is still in dialogue
with the Chinese aviation authorities on the San Jose-Shanghai flight,” an airline spokeswoman said. “We have no further
comment because of the ongoing discussion."
Travelers can fly nonstop from San Jose to Beijing on Hainan Airlines. China Eastern and United
fly to Shanghai from nearby San Francisco.
