Delta has extended its block on middle seats and its cap on seats
sold per flight through the end of September.
During online or app-based booking, all middle seats on
Delta aircraft will continue be shown as unassignable. In addition, the carrier
said it will continue to block some aisle seats in regional aircraft with 2-by-2
seating configurations.
Delta is limiting capacity to 50% in first class on single-aisle
jets and 60% in the main cabin of all aircraft. The carrier is also limiting
capacity to 60% in its widebody premium economy cabin, Delta Premium Select,
and to 75% in its widebody business class cabin, Delta One.
“Reducing the overall number of customers on every aircraft
across the fleet is one of the most important steps we can take to ensure a
safe experience for our customers and people,” Delta chief customer experience
officer Bill Lentsch said in a prepared statement.
