WASHINGTON -- Tower Air canceled any flight that was not airborne
by 6:30 p.m. May 1, an airline spokeswoman said.
The company's charter and military operations will continue for
the "foreseeable future," she added.
The airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Feb. 29
and scaled back service, but had been continuing flights from New
York (Kennedy) to Tel Aviv, Israel; Los Angeles; Miami; San Juan,
Puerto Rico, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Passengers who recently purchased tickets should request a
refund through their travel agency or their credit card company,
the spokeswoman said.
But because refunds will have to be handled under the bankruptcy
process, it is unclear at this point how they will proceed, she
added.
