Alamo Rent A Car said it has successfully bid on car rental concession rights at the airport in Molokai and will begin operations there June 1.

"We are looking forward to providing superior car rental service not only to vacationers but also to our Molokai neighbors, which will include special Kamaaina pricing and corporate programs," said Paul Kopel, vice president and general manager, in a statement.

"In addition, we intend to hire locally to staff our growing operations. This is a great opportunity to work with residents and become an integral part of the island communities we serve."

Operating in Hawaii since 1984, the Molokai location is Alamo's sixth in the state. The move will fill the vacancy created by Dollar's and Budget's departures effective May 31.
