WASHINGTON -- Amtrak said it would resume some train service to New Orleans today that was suspended in anticipation of Hurricane Ivan making landfall in the city.

Amtrak said the City of New Orleans, which travels between Chicago and New Orleans, will begin operation first, while the Sunset Limited, which serves Los Angeles, New Orleans and Orlando, will resume service pending an assessment of track damage if any.
