Its been more than 20 years since American
Airlines launched the first mileage rewards program, followed
quickly by United and TWA, and now the concept has trickled down to
bus travel. Greyhound introduced its first membership mileage
program, Road Rewards, this week.
Customers can earn
points for purchasing Greyhound tickets online, and can apply the
points to free trips, discounts on companion fares and discounts on
food in Greyhound terminals.
As an added bonus,
customers earn a 10% discount on their next ticket purchase for
signing up for the rewards program. For every 16 one-way trips or
eight roundtrip tickets, members will earn one free roundtrip
ticket.
Members can view
their mileage accounts online by clicking on the Road Rewards link
at the company Web site (www.greyhound.com). In general, points expire after a
year. For more information call (800) 231-2222 or visit www.greyhound.com.
