Hertz's car-sharing club, Connect by Hertz, has increased its fleet size in New York.

Hertz said the club has added approximately 420 cars at 170 locations in Manhattan, increasing its fleet tenfold. Connect by Hertz has cars available as far south as Wall Street and as far north as West 91st Street, the company said.

Connect by Hertz also has installed interactive screen pads in its vehicles, enabling members to extend or end their reservation without calling.

Hertz launched its car-sharing business in December to compete with Zipcar, the market leader.
