Trafalgar Tours, known for its motorcoach tour business, has launched a Train Tours program with four rail itineraries in Switzerland, France, Italy and England.
Trafalgar has offered a European train tour in the past, but this is the first time the operator is establishing a complete rail program.
The offering includes a 14-night Contrasts of Europe train tour, which has 24 departures between April 26 and Oct. 4. Prices start at $3,675 per person, land only. The itinerary begins in London and continues through France (Paris and Nice) and Italy (Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome).
The seven-night Contrasts of Switzerland tour has 16 departures running from April 27 through Oct. 5, with prices starting at $1,999 per person, land only. Highlights include Zurich, St. Moritz, Zermatt, Geneva and Lucerne, as well as the Glacier Express, an eight-hour rail journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 6,669 feet.
The nine-day Contrasts of France itinerary includes stops in Avignon, Arles, Aix-en-Provence, Nice, Monaco, Lyon and Paris. Trafalgar offers 21 departures between April 26 and Oct. 18, with prices starting at $2,425 per person, land only.
The 10-day Contrasts of Italy train tour runs from Rome through Florence, the Tuscan countryside, Pisa and on to Venice. The tour has 25 departures between May 4 and Oct. 25, with prices starting at $2,535 per person, land only.
