Justin Trudeau, the former prime minister of Canada, will be the headline speaker at the World Travel & Tourism Council's Global Summit in Valletta, Malta, Oct. 7 to 9.
The organization's 26th summit will draw 1,000-plus attendees, including travel and tourism executives and government leaders discussing issues such as geopolitical change, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and destination development.
WTTC CEO Gloria Guevara said Trudeau's participation "adds another powerful voice to a summit that will bring together an extraordinary concentration of global leadership to discuss the future of our sector."
Trudeau was the 23rd prime minister of Canada from 2015 until stepping down in March 2025. The WTTC said that his experience leading a G7 nation and navigating major global challenges will bring a valuable international perspective to discussions around leadership, resilience and cooperation.
The summit is the first since Guevara's official return to the role of CEO. Guevara was CEO from 2017 to 2021 and was reappointed last January after serving as interim CEO during WTTC's Global Summit in Rome last September.
The WTTC said the summit comes on the heels of global travel and tourism investment exceeding $1 trillion in 2025, growing 8.5% over 2024 and outperforming the wider global economy, contributing a record $11.6 trillion to world GDP.
For the first time, WTTC is enabling senior leaders from organizations outside the WTTC Membership community to join the summit with Executive Access Passes.
