David Pekoske
The Senate has confirmed former Coast Guard vice commandant
David Pekoske as TSA administrator.
The confirmation came with a simple voice vote on Aug. 3.
Pekoske takes the position last held by Peter Neffenger, who
stepped down when President Trump took office. Huban Gowadia had been serving
as acting TSA administrator.
The Air Line Pilots Association International (ALPA), gave
Pekoske its endorsement.
"Vice Admiral Pekoske's solid qualifications and
extensive background position him for success in leading the TSA and our
country in continued development of our nation's risk-based aviation security
system," the union said.
Airports Council International -- North America (ACI-NA),
also expressed its support for Pekoske.
"Now that he has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate,
ACI-NA looks forward to working with him and his team at TSA to further advance
innovative initiatives that enhance security and operational efficiency," the
organization said.
