China's first Atlantis Resort
has opened on Hainan Island, featuring the Ambassador Lagoon, the world's largest open-air aquarium.
The 1,314-room Atlantis Sanya has five suites and one
restaurant that are "underwater," meaning that they feature floor-to-ceiling
windows that look into the Ambassador Lagoon. The resort also features the two-story Lost Chambers
Aquarium, the twisting water slides of Aquaventure Waterpark, Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen and Bar and an Ahava spa.
The $1.6 billion resort is
managed by Kerzner International. It is the third Atlantis resort; the others are in the Bahamas and Dubai.
