The Radisson brand will make its Grenada debut this fall with the rebranding of the Grenada Grand Beach Resort.

The 225-room property will be called the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort
.
"This will be the first U.S. hotel brand in Grenada," said Brenda Hood, Grenada's parliamentary secretary for culture, tourism and civil aviation.

The resort on Grand Anse Beach will remain open during renovations and upgrades.

Hood outlined other resort projects in Grenada, including the 100-room addition to Sandals La Source Grenada Resort & Spa, for its planned opening on Dec. 20.

Mount Cinnamon Resort added the three-bedroom Cinnamon Heights villa to its room inventory, and La Luna resort is adding 35 rooms later this year.

The site of the former Rivera Hotel on Grand Anse Beach could be the location for a new 100-room hotel, according to Hood.

"The old Rivera is just a shell now, in ruins. There are negotiations now for a five-star hotel in the near future," she said.

Plans are in the works for a mixed-use development in the Port Louis area that would include two hotels, 18 townhouses, 25 villas and a 300-slip marina.

Developers Peter de Savary and Robin Paterson are behind the project, which could open in phases starting in 2015.
