Hotel Monaco Seattle to Open Doors: Travel Weekly

Hotel Monaco Seattle to Open Doors

SEATTLE -- Hotel Monaco Seattle, the newest addition to the Kimpton Group, opens here this week.

Located at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Spring Street, the property features 189 guest rooms, including 45 suites. Guest rooms are equipped with fax machines, stereos with CD players, dual-line speaker phones, voice mail, modem ports and sound proof windows.

Hotel Monaco will have nine conference rooms totaling more than 6,000 square feet. The largest meetings room will be 2,160 square feet, accommodating private dining for up to 160. The executive board room will hold 12. The lobby of the hotel will feature 22-foot-high ceilings, a white stucco fireplace and walls with a mural of dolphins playing underwater -- an image inspired by a fresco at the Palace of Knossos.

Dining choices include Sazerac, a 175-seat restaurant that will serve rotisserie cooking and Southern-style fare. It will be open for all meals. Private dining rooms will be available for special events.

Clients will have access to concierge and business services such as a phone, a fax, a copy machine, a computer and a printer, 24 hours a day. The hotel also will offer a 24-hour, on-site fitness center and valet parking.

An evening wine reception, complimentary newspapers and morning coffee service will be offered in the lobby.

Stan Kott, former general manager of Kimpton's Alexis Hotel, also located in Seattle, will serve as general manager of Hotel Monaco.

Rates for guest rooms start at $195 per person, single, and $210, double.

Prices for suites start at $235, single, and $250, double.

The property, which touts its pet-friendly approach, will offer complimentary goldfish for travelers who are unable to bring their pets with them. "We thought it would be fun to offer our guests a temporary pet replacement," Kott said.
